Volunteer Guesthouse Apartments in Las Terrenas & Samana

The Foundation’s popular volunteer guesthouse apartments and host family homes are located in the center of the charming seaside towns of Samaná and las Terrenas

Both are scenic, laid back and safe coastal towns just 35 km from each other. You can meet friendly and easy-going Dominicans, living their life with tourism, agriculture and fishing activities. Life in Samana and Las Terrenas like in every latin town is extremely busy. With many people and all set to the gorgeous beat and rhythms of Merengue, Bachata and Salsa music!
Our Volunteer Guesthouse Apartments are extremely conveniently located only a few minutes from the village center. The Aldeas de Paz attention center, public schools, supermarkets, the hospital, our office and the beaches are close. The interior of the volunteer apartments are simple with fully equipped kitchen and include WIFI and washing machine. The nearby Malecon – the gorgeous seaside walking promenade – is where you will find a lot of restaurants, bars, shops and night life.

A shared gender divided room with between two and four beds is the standard option. Upgrades are available for single room occupancy

The villages and their surroundings are very safe and our apartments have lovely neighbors who constantly look after us. All important locations are only minutes away.

Living together with volunteers from all over the world is a unique chance for cultural exchange. It can be an exciting and new way of living compared to anything you’ve ever experienced before. It has certainly been a key experience in the lives of many past volunteers! Volunteers work and live together and learn how to be empathetic and considerate of others’ needs. They share their free time, house cleaning tasks and cooking (optional). It means they also become close, develop lifelong friendships and have immense fun along the way! We feel that it is important to highlight that we have created an environment of respect and consideration. Volunteer living and housing – you are very welcome!

Host Family Home Stay

Volunteers with a genuine interest in cultural exchange and immersion will enjoy this accommodation option

Integrate yourself into these strong communities. Enjoy the different pace of life and the fantastic opportunity to make local friends. Amenities are basic, but you will enjoy your private room and WiFi. Locals speak Spanish and some speak English as well! The two meals included (usually breakfast and lunch) are eaten with the host family. Volunteers are welcome to spend free time with the family and discover the village and its beautiful surroundings. But will also enjoy their privacy and independents while at the family home. This option is very popular among volunteers who prefer being taken care off and cooked for!

Important to know!

Working Schedule

Our volunteers enjoy an easy going schedule, whereby each volunteer individually decides the amount of hours per week dedicated to volunteer work. A personalized weekly working plan distributes tasks based on necessity and personal preferences. Past volunteers have confirmed the special nature of this arrangement and have enjoyed it tremendously. We encourage volunteers and interns to decide on convenient schedules together with their program coordinator. Projects such as the hospital, tourism, school, marine conservation internship and animal rescue have more structured working hours than multimedia and NGO.

Aldeas de Paz Holidays
