Free Spanish lessons – walk away with capabilities in a new language!
Learn, expand, or polish your Spanish skills. Since the Dominican Republic is a Spanish-speaking country and English speakers are not very common, it is obviously an advantage to know some Spanish. You can quickly improve your speaking skills in the volunteer projects by following our Spanish language group lessons for free! The focus is on conversational skills and full cultural/social immersion. Our Spanish lessons are courtesy and are part your placement!
It is quite possible to volunteer and learn Spanish at the same time
Most of our international volunteers speak little Spanish when they get here. To enrich your everyday interactions with the locals and teach you through practice, you will receive free Spanish lessons every week. Any extra private lessons can be booked while you are here! Just ask us. Additionally, we encourage volunteers to practice their Spanish around the Aldeas de Paz home with fellow volunteers and local staff as often as possible.
We offer free Spanish language immersion classes
Each of our spanish language lessons focus on developing communication skills so that students are able to put their knowledge to practical use as soon as they step outside the classroom. Our teaching method enables students to develop four basic skills: listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. The aim is to learn Spanish in a natural and spontaneous way, just as students have learned their mother tongue. Our students are invited to speak Spanish right from the very first day, using it in typical real-life situations: the basic syllabus is supplemented by special exercises, such as role-play, situational dialogues and work projects. Outside the classroom, the learning process continues as our volunteers are immersed in Spanish language and culture while living door to door with Dominican neighbors.
