We are exclusively financed by volunteer donations!

We work hard to keep the required financial contribution to an absolute minimum and offer financial transparency by practicing an open book policy.

We are a registered tax exempted charity and all monetary contributions are referred to as donation since what you pay is generally 100% tax-deductible for you. Speak with your tax adviser to learn how the cost of international airfare can be tax-deductible as well.

The longer you stay, the less you pay!

The calculation of your financial contribution or donation is set up so that the longer you stay, the less you give per week. We clearly illustrate the decrease in the per week contribution below in the table!

We do this to encourage longer stays, recognizing that longer stays lead to more significant volunteer work and more energy contributed in the form of donated time in place of money!

What is included?

•Volunteer or Intern placement in the program/s of your choice
Our Volunteer Guesthouse: double room occupancy (choose single room add €25/week; equiped studio apartment add €35/week)
Family Home Stay: single room with two meals per day included
•Free WIFI and use of Washing Machine at all Aldeas de Paz facilities
•Placement introduction and hand-outs, supervision, regular briefings
from 6 to12 free Spanish lessons every week
•Certificate and/or written reference or student credit
•Full support and 24/7 back-up from local staff
•Santa Barbara de Samaná bus terminal pick-up and drop off
•Information about adventure packages
•Intern and volunteers meeting

What is not included?

•Airfare to the Dominican Republic
•National and local transport and related services
•Meals at the Volunteer Guesthouse
•Personal expenses or pocket money
•Travel/medical insurance
•Expenses incurred in preparing for the trip

Terms & Conditions

PAYMENT PROCEDURE

You send us the application form. Once you receive the written confirmation, your volunteer placement is being held. The written confirmation includes a financial schedule which sets out the details of the calculated volunteer minimum donation.

 

A 50% deposit is required to fully secure your placement if there are more than 90 days left to the start of your placement.

 

If less than 90 days are left the total donation should be settled as soon as you receive the financial schedule.

 

CANCELLATION

Alterations can be made to your placement, accommodation or arrival/departure date, provided we receive your request in writing before the placement start date. In the event of cancellation, Aldeas de Paz will retain the entirety of the calculated volunteer donation or part of it depending on the number of days before the placement start date that you cancel.

CANCELLATION POLICY

▪ 90 days prior to start date: Aldeas de Paz retains 50% of the total donation
▪ 60-90 days prior to start date: Aldeas de Paz retains 75% of the total donation
▪ less than 60 days prior to start date or cancellation during placement: Aldeas de Paz retains the total volunteer donation

 

THE REASON FOR LIMITED REFUNDS

We need to maintain a good working relationship with our providers & beneficiaries. The less time left before the placement is due to start, the more expenses and difficulty we will have in recruiting a suitable replacement for you. Alternatively we may decide to make a financial or other contribution to the relevant program or provider or contract a paid replacement professional to ensure the projected work will be done.

 

We practice flexibility with all aspects of daily work and life at the Foundation but when it comes to finances we are not as flexible because donations are spend and committed as soon as they are made available!
